Terrigal bar joins Banned from One Banned from All campaign against booze violence

One of the Central Coast’s most popular night spots has joined anti-violence campaign Banned from One Banned From All.

Terrigal Crown Plaza Florida Bar is now on board after introducing an identification system that meets privacy laws to capture and securely record the identification patrons of the bar.

Banned from One Banned from All was the initiative of members of the Gosford Liquor Accord — including police and operators of many pubs and clubs in the Brisbane Water police command area.

The aim is to stamp out violent drunken behaviour at Gosford venues by ensuring that once a person was barred from one drinking establishment, they would also be banned from other particpating venues.

In partnership with NSW Police, Florida Beach Bar has also limited its operating hours and will now close at 1am rather than the former 2am close time.

An hour earlier lockout time of midnight means no additional patrons can enter after this time.

Crown Plaza Terrigal general manager Lachlan Walker said he was committed to making sure that everyone who came to Florida Beach Bar had a safe time.

Superintendent Commander Brisbane Water LAC, NSW Police Daniel Sullivan said it was encouraging to see the hotel making a proactive stand for the wellbeing of the local community.

“Our hope is that other venues in the area will follow suit,” he said.

“The majority of clubs and pubs are now on board and we call for the others to join as we are getting great results.

“Rogue venues create a safe haven for people who cannot control their behaviour.

“Under the system information is shared and troublemakers banned from all venues.”

Brisbane Water Liquor Accord president and Central Coast Leagues Club operations manager Dan Brian said it was a good way to self regulate.

“We started the liquor accord in January 2013 it is a good initiative,” he said.

“The majority of the people do the right thing with only 1 per cent of the population ruin who ruin it for everyone.”

HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS

Gosford Liquor Accord Patrons Banned From One Banned From All campaign ensures those who commit acts of aggression are barred from all participating venues and businesses.

When a troublemaker is banned from one venue, their name, photo and details of the offence are shared with other venues, which then also refuse them entry.

TESTIMONIALS

"Hi Kane, just wanted to pass on our thanks for sending Glenn. He is a wonderful trainer that has demonstrated a great rapport with the students. Glenn is interesting and engaging and the students are fascinated by his industry knowledge and stories. Glenn knows the content very well and answers student questions with ease. The flexible, easy going approach Glenn has shown towards our students is great for us, as some kids struggle with a disciplinarian. The library staff and myself found Glenn friendly and approachable and expressed appreciation of his manner.
Our school Principal also observed Glenn teaching and would like to acknowledge his efforts at our school, and advise you of Glenn's excellent delivery methods.
We will definitely use Bar Max again."

"Hey Kane
Thank you so much for a very successful RCG course - 100% pass rate and all the students said what a fantastic guy Andrew was. They all responded really positively to him. He's a great trainer and we'd be happy to have him back to our school anytime. Thanks again for your patience and co-operation with getting this course done and dusted!!"

"Hi Kane
I also asked students for their comments in regard to the RSA course delivery and they made the following comments;
"It was very enjoyable and interesting."
"The assessor was talking from real life experiences and he made it very interesting - he was cool!"
"I learnt a lot from the course, it was interesting and Andrew was really good at telling us about what happens in industry."
"Andrew told us lots of stories about when he owned and worked in Pubs - he was speaking from experience and therefore it was relevant and interesting."
"You could tell that Andrew (the assessor) knew what he was talking about. He gave a lot of real life scenarios and that made it interesting."
"I would be interested in doing the RCG course now"
The kids really did enjoy the day and many of them have proudly been showing me their licences. Two boys are already organising jobs in industry because of the qualification (bottle shop and local Bowling Club)
Thanks again Kane, I found liaising with you to organise this far easier than organisations I have dealt with previous. Thank you again."
Mackillop Senior College, Port Macquarie , North Coast

"Just giving you some feedback from the RSA course ran at Picton last Thursday 1st Sept. Glen was great with the students and they were engaged throughout the day with his stories and experience in the Hospitality industry.
Would definitely get you guys to come out again to do RCG as well."
