Advanced RCG Classroom Course (ARCG) – Virtual Classroom

(Face to Face Classroom also available)

The Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling, also known as ARCG is a 1 day course delivered by BarMax in a Virtual environment (online) or classroom (face to face) format on behalf Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW). Effective 1st July, 2024 Venues ( hotels and clubs) with 21 or more gaming machines are required to have a Responsible Gambling Officer (RGO) on duty at all times when gaming machines are in operation. The RGO must have completed the ARCG course by that date.

This course is for all hoteliers, secretary managers and senior gaming-related staff in order to satisfy the requirements of the Liquor & Gaming Regulations of NSW.

By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and skills required to:
• identify, approach, and assist patrons who are showing signs of ‘at-risk gambling harm’.
• refer patrons who are experiencing ‘at-risk gambling behaviour’ to appropriate support services (including self-exclusion).
• understand and effectively apply key conflict resolution strategies when dealing with patrons who are showing anger or aggression.
• advise and support venue staff in non-specialist roles to identify and report warning signs of ‘at-risk gambling behaviour’.
• lead and support a culture of responsible gambling and proactive gambling harm minimisation in your venue

Pre-requisites

Must have a current NSW RCG endorsement on a Photo Competency Card.

You are required to provide a Valid Photo ID prior to course commencement comprising either;

  • a current NSW motor vehicle driver or rider’s licence or permit, or a licence or permit issued by another state or territory or under the law of another country;
  • a current NSW Photo Card;
  • a current proof of age card issued by a public authority of the Commonwealth or of another
    state or territory; or
  • a valid and current Australian or foreign passport.

Validating Student Identity using Webcam

During this course and in order to validate the identity of the student for whom the final certificate will be issued, Liquor & Gaming NSW require the provider to assure the identity of the student.

In order to satisfy this requirement, a number of task will need to be completed using Webcam/Integrated Camera whilst logged in.

Students will receive communication from L&GNSW containing an ARCG Completion Certificate and outlining the steps to add ARCG to your Competency Card.

If you hold a digital competency card, the ARCG endorsement will be automatically added to your digital card free of cost.

To add the ARCG endorsement to your physical Competency card, visit competency card self-service portal and pay the associated fee to manage your competency card online.

Computer Equipment and Internet requirements

Students are required to have basic computer skills to access the on-line learning and assessment components of this course, as well as having access to a computer and the internet.

Students will also need to have access to a webcam or integrated camera.

NB. It is NOT recommended that students attempt this course using a mobile phone as the keyboard provided with a computer offers options to ease problem solving within the quizzes and assessments where as a mobile phone does not offer this functionality.
