If you believe you may require assistance to complete the RSA course due to your Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills please contact our offices on (02) 9211 4110 or email enquiries@barmax.com.au to discuss your training needs.

Validating Student Identity using Webcam

During this course and in order to validate the identity of the student for whom the final certificate will be issued, Liquor & Gaming NSW require the provider to assure the identity of the student.

In order to satisfy this requirement, photographs will be taken periodically and randomly via your webcam and only whilst the student is logged in and completing a task within the course.

Before commencing each new task in the course, students may be prompted to ‘allow’ the use of their webcam/camera.

Course Validity period

Your course will be valid for 30 days from the date of your payment.

You must complete this course within 30 days of payment, or your account will be de-activated. If your course is de-activated, you will no longer be able to access the course without re-enrolling and paying full course fees.

Note: You may request an extension to your RSA online course provided it has not yet expired. Extension periods are in 2 week blocks at a fee of $35 per block. Call BarMax offices on 92114110 to pay for your extension.

How long will it take to complete?

This may vary relative to your Language, Literacy & Numeracy skills, prior knowledge, formal training and/or experience in the subject. Whilst you have the 30 days from date of payment to complete the course, most students find little difficulty in completing the course material in 3-4 days if they have the time available. This is because we find students prefer not to do the 7-8 hours of computer interface time in one session and also allowing some time for their assessments to be marked.

It is possible to complete this course, and receive your Interim Certificate within 2 days (Monday-Friday) if the student applies themselves full time with a minimum of errors on assessment. The interim certificate , provided after completion of the course, is required by all licensees prior to your employment and is issued by  Liquor & Gaming NSW (not by BarMax). As a consequence if you finish your BarMax RSA course on a weekend you will not get your  interim certificate from L&GNSW until the next available business day.

Progress Quizzes and Assessment

In order for Barmax to maintain their licence to offer this course as issued by Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) we are required to meet the following Conditions of Approval;

which require that all students spend a minimum of 30 minutes in each module/element and achieve a 100% success result in the ‘check your progress’ quiz provided at the end of each module before moving on to the next.

All questions and answers within the progress quiz have been provided by L&GNSW.

Extract from Liquor & Gaming NSW Conditions of Approval

‘The ATP (Authorised Training Provider) must also ensure that the online course is structured so that students:

  • ii. cannot proceed to the next module until they achieve a 100 per cent mark on the ‘check your progress’ quiz at the end of each module, and
  • iii. are not given the answers to a ‘check your progress’ quiz until they have achieved a 100 per cent mark on that quiz.’

However you may attempt these quizzes as many times as is necessary without penalty.

Once all elements (including the progress quizzes) have been completed, you will then be able to progress to the assessment section that involves a written and a practical element.

Trainer Support

Barmax offers the student 24/7 support by qualified assessors by either email, SMS or phone.

When submitting assessments or queries, an alert is notified to the allocated L&GNSW accredited trainer/assessor with an initial response by phone, SMS or email within 3 hours (provided there is a working internet connection or phone line) and timeframe for the management of the query or assessment agreed with the student at that time.

Can I work straight after completing my course?

Once you have completed and passed your course it will take between 24 and 48 hours for you to receive your ‘Interim Certificate’ from L&GNSW. This certificate will enable you to work on licenced premises for 90 days. During this time you must apply for your Photo Competency Card or you wont be able to work after the 90 days have expired.

How do I get my Photo Competency Card?

After completion of the course you will receive an Interim Certificate (2 page document ). The first page allows you to legally work for 90 days 1st page. The second page is valid for 5 years and contains a bar-code.

After receipt of your Interim Certificate, you must visit participating Service NSW outlets , present your interim (2nd page with bar-code) along with 100 points of ID.

Service NSW will then verify your identity and a photo will be taken and added to your profile for processing. Cards take 3-4 weeks to arrive hence the 90 day validity on the first page of the interim.

You can also download the Service NSW App onto your phone and setup your Digital ID (Valid for working) on your phone typically within 24 hours of visiting Service NSW.
