Can I work straight after completing my course?

No, Once you have completed and passed your course you will then be required to complete an RCG online assessment to obtain your interim certificate. Without an interim you cannot legally work in NSW in a gaming area. This certificate will enable you to work on licenced premises for 90 days. During this time you must get your Photo Competency Card or you wont be able to work after the 90 days are expired.

L&GNSW Online RCG Assessment and Interim certificate

After completion of the above all students must complete the RCG Online assessment as set by Liquor and Gaming NSW to legally work in NSW in a gaming area.

The online assessment has a total of 25 questions (single and multiple choice) allocated from a pool of questions of similar value. Students require 100% to pass and have unlimited attempts. System provides further learning opportunities through just-in-time feedback and the provision of unlimited attempts to address incorrect questions prior to moving on. No time restriction to complete, however students must pass to receive their interim certificate to work in the industry.

On completion, students will receive an automated email from L&GNSW with an RCG interim certificate attached along with instructions on how to obtain a RCG Competency card or add the RCG competency to an existing RSA card.

Service NSW will then verify your identity and a photo will be taken and added to your profile for processing. Cards take 3-4 weeks to arrive hence the 90 day validity on the first page of the interim.

You can also download the Service NSW App onto your phone and setup your Digital ID (Valid for working) on your phone typically within 24 hours of visiting Service NSW.

The cost of the card is $48 and is included in the course cost.
