How January’s new liquor laws will affect you

Last month changes to liquor laws for the Sydney CBD and takeaway alcohol sales across NSW were announced.

The laws are aimed at ensuring Sydney has a thriving, safe and diverse night life that can be enjoyed by all.

Inspectors are out over summer

Compliance Inspectors will be out across the state making sure venues and party boats are safe for customers to enjoy the summer months with family and friends.

In the Sydney CBD, inspectors will work with higher risk venues to ensure they’re prepared for the liquor law changes on 14 January.

New Courtesy bus app gets people home safe – Lake Macquarie

The Liquor Accord Grants program has funded a new web app to help customers get home from pubs and clubs across the Lake Macquarie area.
The web app was created by the Lake Macquarie Liquor Accord and launched in time for their busy festive season.

RSA Information

SITHFAB021 – Provide responsible service of alcohol.

 

  • This is a 1 day theory course with an assessment at the conclusion.
  • Successful completion of this course is required by law for anyone working on licensed premises and where alcohol is served in accordance with the NSW Liquor Act 2007.
  • The RSA teaches the student their legal responsibilities when serving alcohol as a bar attendant, or working around its delivery or management using strategies for preventing underage drinking, preventing intoxication and alcohol abuse.

RCG Information

SITHGAM001 – Provide responsible gambling services.

  • This is a 1 day theory course with an assessment at the conclusion.
  • Successful completion of this course is required by law for anyone working on licensed premises where poker machines exist in a gaming room or area.
  • The RCG teaches the student the dangers of gambling and the legal responsibilities of the gaming attendant if approached by a gambler requiring help whilst working at a venue.
  • This course also covers areas such as statutory signage requirements, gambling inducements, player prizes, reward schemes, cash and cheque dispensing, minors (including evidence of age), responsible & problem gambling, responding to potential problem gamblers, Self-Exclusion & counselling.
